Kurram violence claims 30 lives death toll rises amid ongoing clashes

Karam: Another tragedy occurred in Karam where 12 more people were killed in an armed clash between two groups, taking the death toll to thirty.

In the villages of Kalu Kunj, Badshah Kot and Bagan Bazar in Lower Karam, armed men set fire to several houses, killing many innocent women, children and the elderly.

According to police officials, the death toll has risen to 30 within 24 hours, while many others are injured. The violence spread to other areas of Lower Kurram when a passenger van plying to and from Peshawar was set on fire. It is reported that 38 people died in the attack while others are in critical condition.

During the passage of three to four minutes, when vehicles were moving in and out of Karam and Peshawar, the incident took place.

The spokesperson of DPO Karam says that Deputy Commissioner and DPO have reached the spot. SHO Yar Muhammad said that the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, more than 37 injured people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the district, while the dead have been shifted to Parachinar for burial. Another victim of another gruesome incident in yesterday’s attack, the Tori tribe mourned for three days.

The initial report of the Kuram firing incident has been sent to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a circulating press note, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur presided over an important video link meeting at Chief Minister House to review the latest security situation in Karam district.

Provincial government delegation includes Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, Chief Minister’s Advisor on Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan, former MNA Sajid Tori. and Commissioner Kohat Division Mutasimullah Shah.
