Wapda stops the release of water when the Mangla Dam reaches the dead level

Islamabad: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) said that the water level in Mangla Dam has reached a dead level, which has reduced a 1,050 feet, which indicates the authorities to stop the water discharge.

A WAPDA spokesman noted that the water level in the Tarbela Dam is only 3 feet above dead level and it is expected to reach its dead level within the next 36 hours.

Currently, the water level in the Tarbela Dam is 1,402 feet, with only 15,000 acre feet remaining in the water storage. Meanwhile, Mangla Dam has 72,000 acre feet of water, and Chashma Dam has 15,000 acre feet.

A WAPDA spokesman said that joint water storage in Tarbela, Mangla and Chashma dams is currently 102,000 acre feet.

The details of the arrival and flow of water at various locations are as follows: In the Tarbela on the Indus River, the influx is 22,200 cusecs, which has a flow of 20,000 cusecs. In Mangla on the Jhelum River, the influx is 19,900 cusecs, and the flow is 28,000 cusecs. In the Chashma Barrage, the influx is 38,400 cusecs, and the flow is 27,000 cusecs.

In addition, on the head of the river Chenab, the flow of water is 10,800 cusecs, which has a flow of 6,100 cusecs, while in Noshra on the River Kabul, both influys and flows have been recorded in 14,300 cusecs.
