Swat: The Agriculture Department (Extension) has launched a comprehensive project aimed at promoting olive cultivation in Swat District.
The move was formally inaugurated through a successful graft demonstration in the Ghaki Bandai area of Kabal Tehsil.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) PK -9 Swat Hameed Hamid, Chairman Tehsil Council Kabal Saeed Khan, and District Director Agriculture (Extension) Lower Swat Dr Iftikhar Ahmed. There were also a large number of agriculture officials, representatives of the farmers, and a large number of local farmers.
During the event, the speakers highlighted the capacity of olive cultivation to increase the livelihood of farmers in the region. He presented practical steps to help the farmers and improve their economic conditions through this project.
MPA Hameed -ur -Rehman announced that wild olive trees would be graft in all the lower Swat areas. He emphasized that the increase in olive production will increase the income of the farmers and promote sustainable agriculture in the region.
Chairman Tehsil Council Kabal Saeed Khan praised the Agriculture Department for his farmer’s measures. He noted the success of other projects, including the distribution of free fruit bee nets, promoting kitchen horticulture, and helping to cultivate wild olive.
District Director Agriculture (Extension) Dr Afti Khar Ahmed said grafting of wild olive plants would create both environmental and economic benefits. He added that expansion of olive cultivation can help reduce the effects of climate change.
Dr. Ahmed urged the landlords to remain in close contact with the agriculture officers and field staff of the department to resolve any issue immediately. He assured the farmers that the department was determined to provide timely assistance and assistance.
