Islamabad: On Thursday, Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) told the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that he would need fourteen days to recover the two missing brothers of journalist Ahmed Noorani.
The Noorani based in the United States works for a news outlet called Fact Fox.
Noorani’s mother, Amana Bashir, had filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the recovery of her sons – Mohammad Sifur Rehman Haider and Mohammad Ali – he said he had gone missing from his residence on March 19.
On Tuesday, without reporters, the border (RSF) demanded immediate release of Noorani’s brothers, calling it a clear retaliation for “intimidation and silence.” [Noorani].
During the proceedings on Thursday, Justice Anim Amin Minhas heard the petition, while Advocate Aman Mazari, who represented the applicant, appeared before the court with the mother and sister of Hazrat Noorani.
At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Minhas asked IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi how much time he would need to recover the two brothers, to which the IGP replied that he would need two weeks.
“It takes a year,” Noorani’s mother cried as she appeared on the roster.
Justice Minhas told the IGP: “I asked the station house officer to question and tell us.”
The IGP replied that they were overseeing the matter and a special investigative team had been formed under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Operations.
“We have done geofensing and have also received CDR (Call description records) [on the brothers’ whereabouts]”He told the court.
“We have contacted all IGPs and prisons across the country, but such information is not available anywhere,” he said. “We have been in touch with the IGPs of all the provinces and sought information.”
IGP Rizvi said that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been notified and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been waiting for this.
The IGP told the court, “No one has gone abroad.”
He added that he had examined the Chief Commissioner, local districts and hospitals, but no information was found.
“We also checked [Rescue] 15, nothing was found.
The court asked what was the solution because people have already disappeared.
The IGP said, “We need more time, we are doing our best.”
For this, Mazari said: “They are saying that they have examined hospitals, examined everything. Has anyone tested them?”
“We have made allegations about intelligence agencies under the Interior Ministry,” said Mazari.
Justice Minhas said: “They have been given notices, we can see when they respond.”
“Police have taken people who had cameras,” Mazari said.
Justice Minhas said, “How did they leave Islamabad? Where are they? This is what you need to see.”
Advocate Mazari asked: “Has the safe houses been checked?”
“Yesterday, another journalist was picked up and then the FIA presented it [before a court]”Mazari cited journalist Wahid Murad, who appeared before the FIA before the Islamabad court when his family alleged that he was kidnapped. “
Subsequently, it was remanded in two -day physical custody under the country’s cybercrime laws to post “threatening material” online.
Justice Minhas noted that it is now necessary for the Defense Ministry to respond. He directed the Secretary of Defense to submit a response at the next hearing.
“If you know Allah as a witness, tell me what you would do if it was your baby, or his children?” Noorani’s mother said.
“That day I asked you, who would be responsible if something happened to my sons?” He asked the question.
On this, Mazari said: “The court should order the recovery and offer of the missing brothers.”
Noorani’s mother reiterated that she was very upset.
The court sought the response and adjourned the hearing till Eidol Fitr.
