Uzbek president identifies parliamentary role in implementing agreements with Pakistan

Tashkant: Uzbek President Shakat Mirzivov on Monday emphasized the important role of parliamentary surveillance in ensuring effective implementation of agreements between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

These comments were made during a meeting with a Pakistani delegation led by Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani during the 150th anniversary of the Ben -Parliamentary Union.

At the beginning of the meeting, Senate Chairman Gilani expressed his enthusiastic congratulations and best wishes to President Osif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

Merziyev expressed satisfaction with the growing dynamics of Uzbek Pakistani strategic partnership. He pointed to the growing volume of bilateral trade, the increasing number of joint ventures, and the introduction of direct flights between the two countries. In addition, Merziyev praised the regular organization of business forums and exhibitions, which includes leading companies from both countries.

The importance of Parliament’s participation in the successful implementation of the agreements made during the recent high -level visit to Uzbekistan was given special attention. The two sides discussed accelerating priority projects in the fields of trade, economic, investment and transportation.

An important step that was discussed was to promote the construction of Trans Afagen Corridor. The two sides also agreed to enhance international cooperation and promote humanitarian exchange.
