Bushra Bibi’s non-bailable arrest warrant issued in £190 million case.
Rawalpindi: An accountability court on Friday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in connection with the £190 million settlement case.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana ordered the police to arrest the former first lady and produce her in court on November 26.
The trial court judge issued an arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi as she had been consistently absent from the proceedings of the case for at least eight hearings pending in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
During the hearing, Bushra Bibi’s lawyers, citing the report of Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, sought exemption from today’s proceedings for their client on medical grounds.
However, the NAB official objected, saying that Bibi’s medical reports were issued by a hospital in Peshawar, while the notarization was done in Islamabad.
Moreover, both Imran Khan and Bushra failed to submit their statement under Section 342 of CrPC 1898. The couple were given a 79-point questionnaire provided for closing statements at the second final hearing of the case.
The court also issued a show cause notice to Bushra’s bail guarantor.
