The main entry and exit routes of Lahore were sealed on PTI’s protest call.
LAHORE: The district administration of Lahore has closed all entry and exit routes of the city, including the main highways, to stop the movement of PTI supporters ahead of the Islamabad protest call.
The Motorway Police has closed several motorways connecting Lahore with Islamabad, Sialkot and Multan. Dozens of containers have been placed at the Babu Sabu Interchange, a major choke point, and a heavy police force has been deployed at the site. Traffic is being diverted from Babu Sabu Chowk towards Thokar Niaz Baig.
The Lahore Ring Road connecting different areas of the city was also closed for traffic. Police have also placed containers to block the Ravi river bridge at Shahdara. Apart from this, several roads in Sigiyan, Al Saeed Chowk and Sheikhupura are closed, traffic is also blocked from Imamia Colony and Barkat Colony.
Additionally, all bus terminals located along the blocked roads were also closed. However, the City Traffic Officer (CTO) informed that the traffic within the city of Lahore continues to be affected.
Additionally, the motorways have been closed since November 22 (Friday) due to road maintenance. Among the motorways that have stopped are Islamabad to Peshawar (M-1), Islamabad to Lahore (M-2), Lahore to Abdul Hakeem (M-3), Pindi Bhattian to Multan (M-4), Hakla to York (M). -4) are included. M-14, and Lahore to Sialkot (M-11).
