Internet, mobile services to remain suspended amid PTI protest

ISLAMABAD: Internet and mobile services have been suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to nationwide protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

However, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, mobile data and Wi-Fi services will be suspended only in areas deemed to be security concerns. Otherwise, services will continue to operate as normal across the country.

Earlier, reports surfaced that internet service has been suspended in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore and Faisalabad. Internet service was shut down for the affected citizens of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, preventing them from using popular apps like Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp etc.

According to confirmed reports, mobile network and internet services will remain suspended in the region. The government had also sealed off the capital to prevent large gatherings and any possible violence.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that mobile phone service will remain suspended in Islamabad on November 24 due to PTI’s protest. The government has taken these steps as a precautionary measure for safety and public order.
