Sargodha prisoners will produce 100,000 soaps and shampoos.
SARGODHA: Through a skill development program initiated by the jail administration, inmates at Sargodha’s Shahpur District Jail have started producing soap, shampoo and sanitizers to encourage healthy activities in the jail.
Shahpur Jail and other jails in Punjab will benefit from this programme, which equips inmates with practical skills.
Using equipment specially designed for this purpose, the program teaches inmates how to make soaps, dishwashing solutions, and sanitizers. These goods are intended for use in the open market, inside and outside Punjab jails, to provide a means of compensation to prisoners. Now we are using our hands to master new skills.
A chance for us to leave prison and improve our social lives”, said Syed Yusuf, an inmate who participated in the program.
According to DIG Prisons Saeedullah Gondal, this scheme is a big step towards economic and social rehabilitation of the inmates. He said that our aim is to give them such skills that they can improve their lives in the future.
Through the training program, inmates can learn the skills they need and are capable of making 100,000 bars of soap per month.
Program participants will receive financial assistance and vocational training to enable them to reintegrate into society as contributing members of society upon their release.
