Abu Aliha is currently the most successful film director of Pakistan. He made several films like Taxiligate, Super Punjabi and Javed Iqbal. He knows how to make films on a small budget and his films have been financially successful to a large extent. The director was a guest on The Wire podcast and spoke about the future and past of the film industry in Pakistan.
He talked about the ban on Indian films and how it has affected cinemas. He said that ban on Indian films prevented them from coming to theaters which was a bad decision for our industry. He also stated that it was actually not the Pakistani government that had banned Bollywood films but the opposite.
Abu Aliha said that the Indians stopped taking any distributors for Bollywood films in Pakistan and they were the ones who did not want to release any work here. “They banned Pakistani artists and talent from working in India and we stopped releasing Bollywood films as a countermeasure,” he added.
