Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday granted protective bail till January 28 to Tik Tok player Rajab Ali Butt from arrest in a case related to his alleged playing of music during prayers in Karachi.

The case, which sparked widespread public outrage, was registered at Karachi’s Hydari police station. The complainant alleged that Butt’s actions hurt religious sentiments and violated Islamic values. In his petition in the Lahore High Court, Butt expressed concern over being arrested before attending court proceedings.

Justice Farooq Haider held the hearing and ruled in Butt’s favor, granting him temporary protection from arrest. This decision allows TikTok to appear before the relevant court in Karachi without fear of detention.

The complainant’s lawyer Riyaz Ali criticized Butt’s actions and stressed the importance of upholding Islamic principles. “The court ordered the police to arrest Butt,” he noted, adding that the case would set a precedent to prevent such conduct in the future.

Controversy erupted after videos of Butt allegedly producing blasphemous material during prayer times surfaced, sparking outrage among various sections of society. Butt’s legal team argues that the case deserves a fair trial, insisting that their client’s intentions were not malicious.

The protective order ensures that Rajab Ali Butt has the opportunity to prepare for future legal proceedings, raising broader questions about the responsibility of social media influencers and the consequences of content that offends public and religious sentiments. It’s time.
