The Pakistan Cricket Board is ready to replace Saeem Ayub due to an ankle injury during the run-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The PCB had made it clear that Saeem Ayub’s place in the tournament was not guaranteed, so they were busy working on a replacement.

Saim Ayub’s possible changes

In the case of Shaun Masood, he could serve as a perfect player to fill that slot due to his performance against the West Indies in the Test series. Masood will be a good fit because of his aggressive style of play.

Abdullah Shafiq and Usman Khan are out of the competition while Fakhar Zaman will take over the target spot. Pakistan’s Under-19 sensation Imamul-Haq and Haseebullah are still under consideration for the PCB balance.

Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf will lead Pakistan’s pace attack while new faces Mohammad Hasnain, Abrar Ahmed, leg-spinner, and Sufian Muqim will strengthen the weak arm.

Tournament Description

The Champions Trophy will now be played from February 19 to March 9. Pakistan’s opening match will be against New Zealand in Karachi on February 19, followed by a high-stakes clash against India in Dubai on February 23.

With the final squad submission deadline approaching, Shaun Masood’s inclusion could fill the gap left by Saeem Ayub and strengthen Pakistan’s batting line-up. Stay tuned for more updates on Pakistan’s preparations for the Champions Trophy.
