Bhimbar/Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris and said that the sacrifices of Kashmiris will not go in vain.

“Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir’s dedication to support the cause of Kashmiris,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday while laying the foundation stone of the first Danish School of Science and Technology in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

The inauguration marked a major step in expanding educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

Addressing the function in Bhimbar on Wednesday, the Prime Minister highlighted the aim of the initiative to provide quality education to talented students from backward areas, a vision initiated by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Thousands of students have graduated from Danish schools and are now contributing in various fields,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said, adding that the schools provide free books, food and boarding facilities.

The Prime Minister announced plans to establish more Danish schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Neelum, and extend the initiative to the merged districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He directed the authorities to complete the construction within one year and make the school functional.

The prime minister also praised his government’s economic initiatives, citing reductions in inflation and policy rates, growth in exports and foreign remittances. “We have avoided default and are on track to complete the IMF program,” he said.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq hailed the move as a “game changer” for the region. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam has confirmed the establishment of four Danish schools in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, further advancing access to modern education.

The event was attended by federal ministers, AJK legislators, and Hurriyat leaders, which emphasized the government’s focus on promoting education as a cornerstone of national development.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the concerned authorities to ensure transparent and merit-based selection of students to be sent to China for advanced training in the agricultural sector.

While presiding over the meeting on the subject, the Prime Minister also directed to form a committee to redress the grievances of the students who did not meet the criteria during the examination.

Calling China an experienced friend of Pakistan and appreciating its progress in the agricultural sector, he told the participants that during his visit to China, he had requested the Chinese leadership to provide modern training to Pakistani students in the field of agriculture.

He said that the government of Pakistan will bear the cost of training the students and soon the first batch will leave for China. He further said that among the students selected for training, 10 percent quota has been allocated for Balochistan.
