A majority of the federal cabinet supports Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
ISLAMABAD: A majority of the federal cabinet has expressed support for the imposition of governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the ongoing political instability in the province.
During the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, key officials including the Attorney General and the Law Minister apprised the members about the legal options in response to the provincial government’s challenges.
Several cabinet members argued that the deteriorating political and security situation in KP warranted direct federal control, with governor’s rule seen as a constitutional authority.
The cabinet also suggested consultation with opposition parties including PPP and JUI before taking a final decision. Further consultation with stakeholders will be done before any formal action is taken.
