Parachinar: A helicopter carrying a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government delegation from Peshawar to the conflict-hit Karam district narrowly escaped destruction after it allegedly came under attack in Parachinar.
According to reports, KP Law Minister, Chief Secretary and other officials were on their way to Karam to take stock of the situation after 15 people were killed in fresh firing.
After the firing incident, the pilot of the helicopter managed to land safely while all the members of the delegation were not harmed.
Earlier, at least 15 people were killed and more than two dozen injured in an armed clash between different groups in the tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police said the groups were targeting each other with heavy and automatic weapons, prompting authorities to close schools in the area.
The latest wave of armed clashes began earlier this week when unidentified gunmen targeted passenger vehicles in Kurram.
On Thursday, unknown assailants targeted passenger vehicles in Uchhat area of Karam district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as a result of which 44 people, including 6 women, were killed.
The vehicles were traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar when they were attacked, police said, adding that several other passengers were injured in the attack.
