QUETTA: The Balochistan government and the Grand Health Alliance (GHA) on Wednesday successfully resolved their differences, ending a prolonged strike affecting medical services across the province.
After fruitful discussions, both parties reached an agreement to address outstanding concerns. Medical services have now been fully restored, bringing relief to patients who were affected during the strike.
Government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that all matters were settled amicably and stressed that assurances had been given to the GHA to prevent future strikes or protests. Pakistan Medical Association played a key role as mediator in facilitating the dialogue.
Rind also said that the decision of the Balochistan High Court will be strictly followed, all the orders will be fully implemented. He highlighted the commitment of Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti and Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar to ensure accessible and high quality health facilities for the people.
The government reiterated its plans to transform public hospitals into model health care facilities while stressing responsible utilization of resources entrusted to the health department. Rind assured that reforms in the health sector, aimed at serving the public interest, would continue without compromise.
To prevent future disruptions, the government made it clear that any illegal strike or action affecting medical services would not be tolerated. Officials acknowledged the impact of the medical suspension on the public and stressed the importance of maintaining uninterrupted health care services.
The spokesperson also emphasized on the government’s integrated strategy to address the genuine concerns of health care workers and maintained its authority and commitment to the constitutional and legal framework.
This development confirms the Balochistan government’s focus on public welfare and determination to push forward reforms in the health sector to better serve the people.
