- Defense Minister accused the Afghan government of supporting TTP terrorists
Islamabad: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif announced on Wednesday that Pakistan could take strict action against the forces that provide a safe haven to the detained elements, indicating that Pakistan could work inside Afghanistan to target terrorists.
“If we want to go behind Pakistan’s enemies in any country, we will do it,” Defense Carzar told a private channel.
For a question about the banned Taliban Pakistan (TTP) safe havens, Khawaja Asif accused the Afghan government of supporting TTP terrorists.
He further claimed that during the era of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the TTP was brought back to the region to establish a private militia, which he said was damaged by the country’s internal security.
KH Asif stressed, “The National Action Plan (NAP) is already there and is now being restored to effectively eliminate terrorism”.
The Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday approved a unanimous announcement, which endorsed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and promised decisive action against national stability.
The country’s top civil and military leadership reaffirmed this commitment during the first meeting of the committee under the coalition government led by the current committee Muslim League (PML -N). However, the meeting was boycotted by the opposition party, the Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) among others.
The committee emphasized that no institution, individual or group that works in a foothold with the oppressed forces will not be allowed to destroy the peace and stability of Pakistan. Expressing regret over the absence of some opposition members, an official statement said that consultation on the matter would continue.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, key federal ministers, parliamentarians and senior military officials attended the camera meeting chaired by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
The military leadership provided a detailed briefing in the current security situation, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The meeting was informed about the ongoing counter -terrorism operations, recent threats and a comprehensive state strategy to ensure internal security.
In his address, Prime Minister Shahbaz, in his address, acknowledged the sacrifices of the security forces, emphasizing the government’s commitment to end terrorism. He expressed concern over the security challenges facing Balochistan and KP, saying that national unity is essential to counter these risks.
The participants of the meeting said that the army chief presented an hour -long briefing, in which the army’s operational measures and intelligence -based measures were outlined against terrorist groups. In addition, he said, the Director General of Military Operations completed the briefing through offering on strategic counter -measures.
According to the official statement, the committee strongly condemned the recent wave of terrorist activities, emphasizing the implementation of the National Action Plan immediately and calling Azm-Esthekam’s strategy to eliminate terrorist networks, demanding logistics support and eliminating terrorism and crime.
