Due to supply chain disruption, Punjab and KP will face shortage of petrol.

Punjab & KP to face petrol shortage due supply chain disruption

LAHORE: Ongoing protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have disrupted the supply chain of petroleum products, raising fears of fuel shortages in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Abdul Sami Khan, chairman of Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, said that due to the closure of the roads, the supply to petrol pumps has been suspended in both provinces. “There are reports of running out of petrol and diesel at some pumps. The government should take immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted supply,” he stressed, adding that tankers were unable to reach Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

While Sindh is relatively unaffected, Punjab and KP are facing a growing crisis, with numerous vehicles stranded and petrol availability dwindling. There are reports that many vehicles are stuck due to road closure due to which there is fear of shortage of petrol in different areas of Punjab.

The situation is particularly alarming in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore where the ongoing protests have badly affected the supply chain. “We urge the authorities to address the issue immediately to prevent a full-blown fuel crisis,” Khan added.
