Former Australian child star Rory Sykes has died in the Los Angeles wildfires that have been burning California for the sixth day in a row.

Rory Sykes, 32, who was born blind and suffered from cerebral palsy, died in the California wildfires.

Rory’s mother Shelley Sykes shared the heartbreaking news on X. “It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of my beautiful son @Rorysykes in the Malibu fire yesterday. I am completely heartbroken,” Shelley Sykes wrote.

The actor, who starred in the British TV show “Kiddy Keepers” in the late ’90s, was living in a cottage on the family’s 17-acre Malibu estate.

Shelley Sykes said the cottage was gutted by flames during the Palisades FIR. “I couldn’t put out the embers on the roof with the hose, because the water was shut off by @LVMWD Los Vergennes Municipal Water”, she claimed.

A spokesperson for Las Virgens Municipal Water denied their claims. “Water service remained available and uninterrupted to his property and the entire surrounding community,” he said.

Shelly Sykes told Australian outlet 10 News First that her arm was broken and she could not lift or move her son.

He said, ‘Mom, let me go.’ And no mother can leave her child,” she said while crying.

Firefighters told the mother her son died of carbon monoxide poisoning during the wildfire, according to 10 News First. His death has not yet been officially added to the wildfire death toll, the station reported.
