Gaza: Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasim has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s clear reversal of his first position on the permanent displacement of more than two million Palestinians from Gaza.

The statement came after Trump’s announcement on Wednesday that “no one is expelling any Palestinians from Gaza,” an important retreat from his previous proposal, which sent the Middle East and beyond.

Qasim responded to Trump’s remarks, saying, “If US President Trump’s statements represent a backlash from an idea of displacing people of the Gaza Strip, he is welcomed.”

“We call for Israeli occupation to strengthen this position by obeying all terms of ceasefire agreements,” he added.

Last month, Trump’s original comments suggested that Gaza’s US occupation and its Palestinian population permanently migrate. His comments faced widespread criticism from Arab countries, especially in Arab countries.

This clear revelation came after a series of diplomatic talks in Qatar, where with the US Middle East envoy Steve Watkov, Arab foreign ministers discussed efforts to rebuild Gaza.

The Foreign Ministers of Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization attended the meeting.

He confirmed that consultation and coordination on the reconstruction of Gaza would continue, the United States would be expected to work with these Arab countries in the reconstruction of the war -torn region.

On Saturday, the 57 -member Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) endorsed the Gaza Reconstruction Plan proposed by the Arab League.

The Egyptian -led plan is trying to provide an alternative to Gaza’s reconstruction and Trump’s plan under the future administration of the Palestinian Authority, which was seen as a potential threat to Palestinian sovereignty.

Hamas welcomed a clear change in Trump’s position, demanding continued efforts towards a lasting peace deal. A new round of ceasefire talks in Qatar has also begun, which has called for further stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Hamas’s political adviser Tahir Aluno confirmed that the release of an American Israeli dual -nation held in Gaza has had an extraordinary, direct dialogue between Hamas and the United States.

The talks, which included a step -by -step ceasefire agreement, have identified a significant departure from the long -standing US policy of not negotiating with groups, which they believed to be “terrorist organizations”.

Despite the ongoing ceasefire, Israel has continued a complete blockade on Gaza, which has stopped the entry of food, fuel and pharmaceuticals into the region. The blockade described as a process of collective punishment has intensified pressure on Hamas and is viewed as an attempt to use Israel’s humanitarian aid as a benefit to the conflict.
