Hospitals on high alert ahead of PTI protest in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Hospitals in Islamabad have been put on high alert ahead of the November 24 protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to the notification issued by the district administration, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinic Hospital will remain on high alert until further notice.

Hospitals have been directed to make necessary arrangements to deal with any emergency that may arise during the protest, the notification said.

The notification states that the leave of professors, doctors, nurses and staff of PIMs and polyclinics have been cancelled.

Emergency departments of hospitals have been instructed to be prepared for emergencies and consultants, surgeons and CMOS of federal hospitals have been instructed to be on call.

Focal persons have also been appointed at PIMs and Polyclinics to deal with emergency situations.

It should be noted that the jailed PTI founder Imran Khan has given a call for a nationwide protest on November 24.

In a separate development, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province ahead of the PTI protest in Islamabad on November 24.

According to the notification, Section 144 will be in force from Saturday, November 23 to Monday, November 25.
