The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a new promo for the Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan. The promo also features legendary former fast bowler Wasim Akram.
Ahead of the Champions Trophy, the champion team’s white jacket was unveiled and the promotional video released by the ICC features former national team captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram.
In the video, Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram is seen appreciating the white jackets given to the Champions Trophy winners.
Wasim Akram called the white jacket a source of pride and invited cricket fans around the world to be a part of the champions’ journey.
Wasim added that now the international cricket community will get excited about the event and the strongest team in the Champions Trophy will be seen winning the tournament.
ICC Men’s Champions Trophy popularly known as Mini World Cup will be held after 8 years. In the last edition in 2017, Pakistan won the trophy under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed.
Earlier, a promo was also released by broadcasters of the Champions Trophy. The promo released by Star Sports on their YouTube channel featured a video featuring current and former Indian captains (Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli).
The Champions Trophy promo featured South Africa’s De Kock and Raza Hintrich, Australia’s Pat Cummins, David Warner, England’s Jofra Archer, Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and India’s Jasprit Bumrah among others.
Remember that the ICC Champions Trophy will start from February 19 in Pakistan in which 8 teams will compete. The opening match of the tournament will be played on February 19 between defending champions Pakistan and New Zealand.
The teams have been divided into 2 groups for the preliminary stage, each team will play 3 group stage matches and the top 2 teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals while the final of the event will be played on March 9.
Pakistan had agreed to a hybrid model under an agreement with the International Cricket Council, whereby all international events between Pakistan and India would be played at neutral venues until 2027, so all India’s matches for the Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in the United Arab Emirates. It should be noted that India has not played a match in Pakistan since Asia Cup 2008, while no bilateral series has been played between the two countries since Pakistan toured India in 2012-13.
