Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI) has accused the government of claiming that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was imprisoned in isolation in Adiala jail, and claims that he has been kept in a jail death cell and has been refused to meet family and legal advice.
During a press conference, PTI’s central information secretary Sheikh Waqas alleged that six persons were allowed to meet Khan despite the court’s decision, authorities have stopped all visits. “Even his wife has been denied twice meetings without any explanation,” Waqas said, adding that a court petition has been filed.
Waqas also claimed that Khan had been denied access to medical consultations, legal documents, books and newspapers, which further banned his ability to prepare legal cases. He warned that these measures could force PTI to protest.
In addition, he criticized the federal government’s Ramadan package, and compared it to PTI’s past welfare programs. He called on the government to allocate funds for public aid rather than political development and warned against the misuse of authority for political benefits.
