International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman J Shah Shah thanked the hosts but did not mention the name of Pakistan as host Pakistan in his social media post.

“From the ICC, I want to thank the teams, tournament hosts, broadcast licenses, our sponsors, ICC staff, suppliers, and of course all the world,” Jay Shah wrote on X.

The fans criticized Jay Shah for not mentioning the name of Pakistan, and contrary to various ICC tournaments, the hosts were treated with their prejudice.

Interestingly, Mr Shah did not even publicly praise Pakistan even once, neither at the closing ceremony nor for his role in organizing the successful event on social media pages.

The Champions Trophy 2025 was the first assignment of Mr J Shah as Chairman of the ICC.

Pakistan hosted the mega event after 29 years, with many obstacles, as the BCCI demanded a hybrid model for the mega event.

The Indian cricket team played all their matches in Dubai, while Pakistan hosted nine matches, including the semi -finals, at three different places.

The final was played on March 9 between India and New Zealand at the International Dubai Stadium, which ended with India’s victory.

However, Pakistan lost many hosting rights.

The ICC faced a lot of criticism for not inviting the host representative for the distribution of the mega event trophy.

Later, the ICC made it clear that the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was invited to the closing ceremony but could not participate for personal reasons.

In addition, the ICC made it clear that according to the ICC rules, only the chairman of the countries can participate in the closing ceremony of any ICC event.

The ICC always looked biased towards Pakistan’s host rights and tried to isolate Pakistan throughout the program.
