ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad has approved the two-day physical remand of senior journalist Matiullah Jan, who was abducted from Pims Hospital in Islamabad last night. According to his family, he was abducted. was

ATC judge Tahir Abbas conducted the hearing, during which the caution sought a 30-day physical remand of the journalist.

His lawyer Hadi Ali said that the case filed against Matiullah Jan is extremely ridiculous. The defense lawyer requested that his client be released from the case.

John was detained in connection with a terrorism case, which included drug possession charges. The FIR was registered by Margalla Police on the complaint of Superintendent of Police Asif Ali.

The FIR states that Matiullah in his white Toyota Yaris intentionally injured police constable Mudassar when he was signaled to stop at a check post on Margalla Road in E-9 sector.

It was claimed that John was intoxicated at the time, while police recovered 246 grams of the drug methamphetamine (crystal meth) from his vehicle. The case was registered at 3:20 am, almost an hour after her alleged abduction.

Earlier, his family reported that Matiullah Jan, a critic of the government’s handling of the PTI protests, along with fellow journalist Saqib Bashir, were arrested at 11 pm on Wednesday. Bashir was eventually released, John’s whereabouts remain unclear, his family said in a statement on social media.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) demanded the immediate and unconditional release of journalist Matiullah.who has reportedly been arrested after covering the recent protests in Islamabad.
