Lahore tops the air pollution charts once again

LAHORE: In a sad move, the provincial capital once again topped the air pollution charts and became the world’s most polluted city for the third time with the highest recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) of 298.

Despite the efforts of the Punjab governments to control smog in the province, the region is still suffering from severe air pollution which is still rising to alarming levels affecting people’s health as well as daily life activities. Disturbing.

Earlier, Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb announced that the government has installed 30 new air quality monitors across the province to keep a check and balance on air pollution levels.

According to AFP reports, the level of air pollution in Lahore increased to more than 80 times the level considered acceptable by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Currently, the air quality index has dropped to 181 as the day goes by, which is considered unhealthy.
