Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday directed the Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) to decide on Pakistan Thharik-Insaf (PTI) by 5:00 pm on Friday. 8)..
LHC’s Justice Farooq Haider, while hearing the petition filed by PTI, issued the directive, seeking permission to hold a rally in Minar Pakistan. The court criticized the authorities for postponing the verdict, noting that the PTI had submitted its petition on January 29.
If allowed at the last minute, the court expressed concern over the feasibility of the rally preparations.
During the proceedings, the Chief Secretary of Punjab appeared in the court and assured to comply with his orders.
The Lahore DC presented a report, citing the logistic challenges, explaining the delay, including the match of the Tree Nation series. He said talks about approval of the rally are still underway.
The court pressured the officials why no decision had been reached before.
If a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow and the request has been denied, what will be the option of PTI? If the approval is granted, how can preparations be completed in just one day? Justice Haider gave remarks.
PTI leaders say delaying or denying public gatherings is banned from their right to political expression.
