Madhubala the elephant will be shifted to the safari park tomorrow.
KARACHI: Port City Zoo’s only elephant, Madhubala, now 16 years old, will be taken out of solitary confinement and shifted to a safari park, Four Paws (International Animal Welfare Organisation) announced on Monday.
The transfer of the last surviving lone elephant has been finalized, and it is hoped that Madhubala will soon join the two elephants, Sonia and Mallika, after almost fifteen years at the safari park.
As reported by Four Paws, Madhubala’s container entry and exit training has been successfully completed.
Basic support is being provided for better and safer migration procedures during elephant transport, including briefings on road clearance. Another milestone in Madhubala’s history is a function expected to be held at the safari park tomorrow after his arrival.
This means that all three elephants will now live in the safari park. As pointed out, Madhubala is one of the four African elephants treated in 2022 by Four Paws’ eight-member international team in Karachi.
Four Claws has a compelling vision – the migration of elephants who need it. It has been able to move Kawan from Islamabad to Cambodia in 2020, most famously referred to as “the world’s loneliest elephant”.
Tomorrow, Madhubala Rescue will mark another success for the organization and another step in the right direction towards the welfare of this great creature.
