Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday demanded the President of the Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML -N) and former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The NA Speaker apprised the President of the PML-N about the current meeting of the National Assembly, the progress of the ongoing legislation, the important parliamentary affairs and the performance of the 16th National Assembly during its first parliamentary year.

According to sources related to the meeting, NA Speaker arrived at the residence of the former Prime Minister to discuss the proposed amendments in Article 62, 63 of the Constitution, which resulted in Sharif dismissing dishonesty to hide his salary from a Dubai -based company.

Article 62 and 63 states that the parliamentarians should be honest (true) and Amen (reliable).

He further said that former Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and former Law Minister Zahid Hameed were also present during the meeting.

The law minister had earlier announced the abolition of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution on the floor of the National Assembly, which reacted strongly to the opposition parties, which vowed to resist any such attempt to amend the constitution “to save only one person.”

During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif praised the NA speaker for taking the proceedings of the House fairly despite the opposition’s protests.

He further emphasized that the people of Pakistan are not interested in protesting and slogans. On the contrary, they look for a sustainable solution for the country’s pressure.

The PML -N chief also praised the speaker for effectively facilitating the speaker’s role in the “caretaker of the House” and the dialogue and dialogue between the government and the opposition. However, he regretted that the talks had failed to produce results due to lack of seriousness of Pakistan Tehreek -e -Insaf (PTI).

The president of the PML -N emphasized the importance of maintaining parliamentary supremacy, legislation in the public interest and strengthening democracy.

He said that a strong parliament is essential to ensuring political stability and promoting public welfare in the country.

PPP senior leader Syed Khurshid Shah had said that the PML -N -led government wants to abolish the “constitutional provisions to save Sharif”, reiterating that his party will not allow the government to play with the constitution “to save only one person.”

Similarly, Zahid Hameed, a former law minister, said on the floor of the National Assembly, saying that the government was considering amending Article 62, 63 of the Constitution while working on the proposed amendment and its legal aspects were underway.

The minister said the government believes that the disqualification of a legislature should be less than the current five years.
