In today’s highly anticipated Pak vs WI match, Pakistan take on West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
The Green Shirts, led by Shaun Masood, won the toss and elected to bat first, which got off to a late start due to dense fog.
The toss, originally planned for 9 am, was delayed and finally held at 1 pm.
The series is crucial for Pakistan as it aims to wrap up its ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign with a win.
The second Test will also start from January 25 at the same venue.
For the West Indies, it marks a historic return to Pakistan for Test cricket, their first since 2006. The last Pak vs WI Test series was in the Caribbean in 2021, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Both the teams are fully prepared for the competition. Pakistan’s squad includes experienced bowlers Abrar Ahmed and Sajid Khan along with Kashif Ali, Mohammad Harira and Rohail Nazir, who are close to crossing important milestones in their Test careers.
West Indies, led by Craig Brathwaite, are also preparing to take part in a three-day warm-up match against Pakistan Shaheens in Islamabad.
“This is our last Test series of the ICC cycle, and we are focused on ending it with a memorable victory,” Shaun Masood exuded confidence ahead of the series. Meanwhile, Brathwaite highlighted the importance of adapting to Pakistan’s conditions and stressed the importance of taking 20 wickets to ensure victory.
Today’s match between Pak vs WI promises a thrilling start to the series as both sides battle it out for an early advantage in Multan.
