Pakistan generates $116mln by seafood export in four months

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), during the first four months of the fiscal year 2024-25, Pakistan exported 54,539 metric tons of fish and fish products, earning $116.115 million.

According to PBS data, fish exports declined by 6.33% during the period under review compared to exports of $123.965 million during the financial year 2023-24.

Exports of fish and fish preparations declined by 0.04% during the period compared to 54,562 metric tonnes during the previous financial year.

In October 2024, seafood exports totaled $46.009 million, up 12.78 percent from $40.797 million in the same month last year. Shipments increased from 16,724 metric tons in October last year to 21,395 metric tons in October 2024, representing a 27.93 percent increase in volume.

Seafood exports fell 31.45 percent month-on-month to $35,000 million in September 2024 shipments, according to PBS data.

Fish exports increased by 35.57% in October 2024, compared to 15,781 metric tonnes exported in September 2024.

It is significant that Pakistan’s total food exports have increased by 21.73% in the first four months of the current financial year compared to the same period last year.

According to the latest PBS data, food exports totaled $2,365.114 million during July-October 2024-2025, as against $1,942.915 million in July-October 2023-2024.
