Pakistan will develop its first frigate class warship.
Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf said the decision was a response to the growing maritime security threats in the region.
The Jinnah-class frigates are designed to meet modern naval challenges, such as air defense, surface warfare, and anti-submarine operations.
Admiral Ashraf emphasized that these ships will significantly reduce Pakistan’s dependence on foreign naval platforms and are being built using lessons learned from the construction of the Muljam class ships.
Along with the introduction of modern ships like PNS Babar and PNS Hunain, this is a component of Pakistan’s massive fleet modernization initiative.
Apart from this, Karachi Shipyard is building two ships of Maljum class. Pakistan’s future naval policy aims to ensure a balanced and adaptive naval force that can meet changing maritime threats by enhancing combat readiness with indigenously developed technology.
