Pakistan's role recognized with the re -election of the United Nations Commission on Drug Drugs

New York: Pakistan was re-elected for the 4-year term (2026-29) in recognition of the country’s leading role in countering the drug curse.

The election took place at a meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (EcoSOK), where Pakistan won the most votes in the contesting seats available in various regional groups.

The details of the vote in the 54 -member council are: Pakistan (50), Kazakhstan (46), United Arab Emirates (43), Craigisistan (41) and Iran (25)

A press release from the UN mission to the United Nations, adding, “Pakistan has been pleased with the tremendous support received from Ekosk,” he added, “This reflects the confidence and confidence in Pakistan that it continues to play a contribution to global anti -drug efforts and drug -related issues.”

He said, Pakistan, looking forward to working with other members of Ecosovic, and with the wider membership of the United Nations, which strengthens the role of CND as a basic global drug policy -making agency, ensures that international drugs are responsible for controlling international drugs.

Established in 1946, Pakistan is helping to oversee the UN’s international drug control agreements.
