It has been claimed that all -rounder Shadab Khan was considered to be a T20 capture during his visit to New Zealand, but the idea was rejected by PCB officials.
Instead, Salman Ali Agha was nominated in accordance with the philosophy of providing new players ahead of the T20 World Cup next year, according to the board’s philosophy. The selection process included talks with the team teachers to address their concerns.
In the first ODI against New Zealand, Usman Khan started the innings with Abdullah Shafik. According to sources, a similar plan was proposed for the Champions Trophy match against India in Dubai, the board suggested that the team management be opened with an aggressive batsman. However, the team administration rejected the advice.
The PCB selected the squad for a visit to New Zealand after consulting five teachers: Sarfraz Ahmed, Sakilin derivatives, Waqar Younis, Misbah -ul -Haq, and Shoaib Malik. Earlier, when the team’s disappointing performance in the Champions Trophy raised concerns about the role of the teachers, they justified themselves by claiming that they had not been contacted on the selection of the player.
After talking with the teachers, the selectors first selected Shadab Khan as a T20 captain, noting his experience to guide the United Nations in the PSL and patronize new players.
However, the PCB organizers rejected the idea and inquired that a player who was not a permanent member of the squad could be nominated as captain. Instead, Salman Ali Agha, who was regular in the first forms, was nominated as the captain, in which Shadab was the vice captain.
Pakistan lost the series 1-4 to New Zealand with a lonely victory in the third match thanks to Hassan Nawaz’s century.
Salman Ali Agha won as Pakistan’s leading scorer, scoring 167 runs at an average of 41.75. Shadab Khan, on the other hand, scored only 58 runs in five matches on average 14.50 and took only one wicket in an average of 143 in the bowling average, which is inappropriate for the spinners.
