- Prime Minister Shahbaz inaugurates seed potato production and aeropoonics complex founded by South Korea
- Minister for Food Security is requested to focus on local manufacturing of agriculture machinery
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday emphasized that federal and provincial governments should work together to provide input to farmers at appropriate rates to strengthen agriculture.
He was addressing the production of seed potatoes and the inauguration of the seed potatoes and the inauguration of the Aeropoonics Complex, to manufacture seed potatoes using advanced technology.
He said that the timely availability of good quality seeds, fertilizers and medicines will revolutionize the field of agriculture and this will result in increased exports.
He thanked Korea that he helped Pakistan in setting up a complex for the preparation of potato seeds.
He remarked that Korea had a strong economy and Pakistan wanted to cooperate with it in various sectors.
“Our farmer was hard work and workable and works in all kinds of weather and the use of modern seeds will increase potato production,” he said.
“Our farmer needs the best seeds, fertilizers and real medicines,” he added.
He emphasized that a proper environment should be provided to the graduates of agriculture so that they can contribute to the development of the agriculture sector.
He said that the Minister for Food Security and his team should focus on the progress of the agriculture sector.
“About 65 percent of our population in rural areas was affiliated with agriculture,” he said.
He added, “We have to increase the share of agriculture in the country’s economy. We have to increase the production of cotton, sugarcane and other crops.”
“If we develop diligently, we will be ahead of other countries in the agriculture sector,” he said.
“We are sending 1000 agriculture graduates to China for training.”
He called on the Food Security Minister to focus on local manufacturing of agriculture machinery, including joint harvesting.
He praised the researchers and scientists of the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council for their dedication and hard work to promote agriculture.
He added that Pakistan’s agriculture will develop due to the efforts of these researchers.
He said efforts should be accelerated to promote small and medium -sized businesses in the countryside.
“We have to take steps to store and transport vegetables and fruits,” he added.
He said that the farmers should focus on increasing value by using fruits and vegetables in supply of sufficient.
He said that Pakistan was wasting foreign exchange reserves on export of $ 4.5 billion of palm oil and the trend needs to be rejected by increasing local production.
He added, “Pakistan’s cattle sector also had immense potential, adding,” We need to collect our act to participate in the country’s progress. We have to work hard to change our agriculture sector. “
