Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh announced the delay in the release of his film. Punjab 95which was originally slated to release on February 7.
Taking to Instagram, Dosanjh announced that the film’s release date has been postponed.
“We are very sorry to tell you this. Punjab 95 Due to circumstances beyond our control there will be no release on February 7th.
Earlier, the actor had shared the teaser of his highly anticipated film, Punjab 95 on his account.
Diljit shared the teaser with the hashtag #ChallengeTheDarkness with the caption, “Full movie, no cuts,”.
Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film is slated to hit theaters on February 7.
According to teasing, Punjab 95 Based on the true story of Sikh rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Jaswant fearlessly exposed more than 25,000 cases of illegal killings, abductions and secret burials by the Punjab Police.
The film follows his relentless quest for justice, culminating in his kidnapping, torture, and tragic murder—crimes for which six police officers were later convicted.
Diljit Dosanjh plays the role of Khalda, thinking about the disappearance of Sukhdev Singh. The teaser highlights Khalra’s unwavering determination to uncover the truth, despite the personal risks she faces in uncovering the facts behind the case.
According to Indian media reports, the film faced several hurdles, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recommending 120 cuts to the film due to its sensitive content. Although delayed for years, the film received approval from Khalra’s family after a private screening in 2022.
