The Central Routi-Health Committee announced on Friday that the moon of Ramadan was not seen, confirming that the holy month will begin on Sunday (March 2) across Pakistan.
Talking to media in Peshawar, Chairman of the Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, said that the zonal committees gathered to seek evidence of moon -watching across the country.
“There was no testimony from anywhere in the country,” he said, adding that there was a consensus unanimous consensus to start Ramadan on Sunday.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs also confirmed the decision in an official notification.
Earlier, the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Soparco) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted that the moon would not be seen on February 28, forecasting Ramadan 1 on March 2.
Meanwhile, it is expected that Saudi Arabia will start Ramadan a day ago on March 1st, as Crescent is likely to appear there.
According to Soparco, on March 30, on the basis of Shawal Moon’s prediction, Eidol Fitr will be observed in Pakistan on March 31.
