Islamabad: A delegation of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) participated in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) extraordinary Congress 2025 held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
A two -member PFF delegation, led by President Mr Saud Azam Hashmi and Acting General Secretary Mr Mohammad Shahid Niaz Khokhar, actively represented Pakistan at a high level gathering. Kaji Salahuddin, president of the voice row of the program, was led by Kaji Salahuddin. Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al -Khalifa, president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), attended the program as a special guest.
During the Congress, a former AFC official, Pureshotam Katil, was appointed as the new general secretary of the SFF, which identified an important administrative development for South Asian football.
One of the major highlights of the program was a dedicated meeting between the PFF leadership and AFC President Sheikh Salman, accompanied by AFC’s deputy general secretary, Mr Wahd Cardeni, who played an important role in the recent settlement of the PFF Congress, which made AFC and FIFA.
During the debate, Pakistan focused on the ongoing process of normalizing football and the upcoming PFF elections, both considered an important milestone in reviving the country’s football landscape. PFF President and NC Chairman Saud Azam Hashmi apprised the AFC President about the progress of the PFF elections and outlined ahead of the election process.
Expressing hope, Sheikh Salman shared expectations of a new leadership era to emerge from the upcoming PFF elections. He emphasized that strong, stable leadership is essential for sports development in Pakistan and has promised to support the All -Out Out AFC to help the country in his journey towards football development and excellence.
The PFF delegation also held talks with other SAFF member state leaders, where they sought regional cooperation, joint ventures and strategies to advance joint targets in South Asian football.
