Pakistan’s star player Shaheen Afridi was convicted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the match against South Africa last night. Two more Pakistani players Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam have also been fined.
During the match, the three players have been fined for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
Star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was fined for violating Article 2.12 of behavior. It says “inappropriate physical contact with a player during the international cricket match, player support personal, umpire, match referee, or someone else (including spectators)” is forbidden.
Shaheen Shah Afridi fined 25 % of his match fee through the ICC.
Saud Shakeel and replacement fielder Kamran Ghulam fined the ICC for 10 % of their match’s 10 % inappropriate gestures and abuse language.
During the 28th over of South Africa’s innings, Shaheen deliberately stopped South African batsman Matthew Bretzke while he was trying to sing. This led to physical contact and hot exchange between the two players.
The situation worsened in the next over when Tumba Bumoma ended.
Saud Shakeel and alternate fielder Kamran Ghulam approached the batsman and abused him verbally.
Both players were convicted of violating Article 2.5 of behavior. The article “Language, action, or gestures describes that can be contemptuous or angry for a batsman after being dismissed in the international match.”
The three players also awarded a Demistor Point. The three accepted sanctions imposed.
However, in the meantime, Pakistan has reached the finals of the Tri -Nation series after defeating Proteas in breaking the record that chased the highest run of 353 runs.
Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan gave their performance to win the match and scored in centuries.
