Quetta: The Baloch Solidarity Committee (BEC) has accused the police of using excessive force against the protesters in Quetta, and claimed that the officers opened fire on peaceful protesters, killing three and injuring dozens, including seven in critical condition.

In response, Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind denied the allegations, saying that the protesters were engaged in stone climb and violent behavior, which injured several police officers, including a female constable. The government maintained that law enforcement agencies worked within the legal boundaries to clear a blocked national highway, while the BEC argued that security forces used irreparable force to suppress peaceful protests.

In the context of unrest, the authorities sealed the red zone, citing security concerns and the need to maintain public discipline. Balochistan National Party-Mangal (BNP-M) and the National Party (NP) condemned the actions of law enforcement agencies, demanding talks to tackle the situation.

The protest is linked to a separate incident on Thursday when relatives of the missing persons recovered several bodies from the civil hospital mourning, trying to identify them. Although it is not yet clear whether they have positively identified the bodies, hospital officials confirmed that BYC -related protesters forced at least five bodies.
