KIF: The United States reached separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia on Tuesday to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and ban the attacks of both countries on each other’s energy facilities.

Agreements, if implemented, will still represent clear progress towards a widespread ceasefire that Washington views as a step toward peace talks to end Russia’s three -year war in Ukraine.

The two countries said they would rely on Washington to impose deals.

Ukrainian President Walid Zelannsky told reporters at a news conference in Kiev, “If the Russians violate it, I have a direct question for President Trump.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: “We will need clear guarantees. And in view of the tragic experience of the contracts with Kiev, the guarantees can only be the result of a work order from Washington to Zilinski and his team and not to others.”

In the agreements reached in Saudi Arabia, US President Donald Trump has launched talks, which have pledged to end the war rapidly and affected Washington’s position with Moscow to strongly support Ki.

Under the agreement with Moscow, Washington promised to help restore Russian access to markets for its agricultural and fertilizer exports. The Kremlin said it would need to lift some restrictions.

Following the talks last week, there were separate phone calls between Trump and both presidents, Zelinski and Vladimir Putin. Putin rejected Trump’s proposal for a full ceasefire that lasted 30 days, which was previously endorsed by Ukraine.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Amrov said that Kiev would consider any movement of Russian military ships as a violation and threat outside the eastern part of the Black Sea, in which case Ukraine would have full right to defend itself.

Stop at attacks on energy facilities

Russia has attacked Ukraine’s power grid with missiles and drones during the war, and argued that civil energy infrastructure is a legitimate goal as it helps to fight Ukraine.

Recently, Ukraine has been attacking Russian oil and gas targets over a long distance, saying that Russian soldiers provide fuel to soldiers and provide income to provide financial support for combat efforts.

At the beginning of the war, Russia imposed a de facto naval blockade on Ukraine, one of the world’s largest grain exporters, who was at risk of worsening the food crisis globally.

But the maritime battles have been a relatively small part of the war since 2023, when Russia withdrew its navy from the Black Sea after several successful Ukrainian attacks. Kiev was able to reopen its ports and resume exports at the pre -war level, despite the termination of the ship’s shipping agreement in the former non -disclicted Black Sea.

Trump is pressuring both sides to eliminate the war rapidly, a purpose he promised that he had chosen for the president last year.

At the same time, he is pursuing a rapid reaction with Russia that Washington and Moscow say business opportunities can arise.

Ukraine and its European allies fear that Trump can deal with Putin, which disrupts his security and caves on Russian demands, including abandoning his NATO ambitions and abandoning the four regions claimed by Russia. Ukraine has rejected it to surrender.
