Tehran: Two Supreme Court judges were shot dead in Tehran on Saturday, and one judge was injured, according to the Judiciary’s Meezan News website.

It said the assailant killed himself after opening fire on judges outside the Supreme Court. Iranian media say that the bodyguard of one of the judges has also been injured.

The reason for the murder was not clear. The judiciary has identified the slain judges as Ayatollah Muhammad Mugheishi and Ali Razni.

In the past, opposition websites have said that Mogheshi was involved in the trials of people he described as political prisoners.
