LONDON: The British government has formally filed the PML -N president’s son and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz, as a ‘tax defaulter’, when he allegedly failed to pay $ 9.4 million.
According to the latest records on the UK government’s official website, Hassan Nawaz received a free tax between April 5, 2015 and April 6, 2016. In addition to the outstanding amount, UK tax officials have imposed a further 2 5.2 million fines.
Legal analysts said that when Hassan Nawaz was declared bankrupt a few months ago, UK laws regarding tax fraud prevent such responsibilities from writing through bankruptcy. Authorities maintain the right to recover the entire money, including fines.
So far, there has been no official comment by Hassan Nawaz or his legal team about development.
The latest controversy follows the high -profile Evacial Field, flagship, and Alzheimer’s corruption earlier this year, with his brother Hussein Nawaz.
Despite these legal victories in Pakistan, this development in the UK will raise more questions about the financial affairs of the Sharif family abroad.
