Atlanta-based rapper DJ Ink, best known for his 2006 hit Snap Run it outsadly passed away at the age of 43.
The news was confirmed by his wife, Sherkita Longplatt, in a Facebook post on Friday, January 24.
“Please respect me and my family during this difficult time. I have lost my husband, and my children have lost their father. Our lives will never be the same. He sent this message to her. Ending with, “I love you forever Anthony,” she shared the news without revealing the cause of his passing.
Anthony Leonard Platt, better known as DJ Ink, became a household name in the mid-2000s. The track that brought him worldwide recognition run it out, Released in 2006. The song quickly became a sensation, earning a platinum certification.
The hit track was part of his debut album, Beat your block!.
The song charted in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 2 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and the Hot Rap Songs chart.
He followed up with another hit, 2 stepswhich further cemented his place in the snap music scene. His soulful beats and catchy lyrics defined an era and made him a household name in Atlanta’s music industry.
In 2009, DJ Ink faced health challenges that slowed his career. Although the artist did not share the details of these medical issues, it is clear that they are serious in nature.
The news of DJ Ink’s death has saddened his fans and friends.
