Star batter Virat Kohli has been dropped out of England vs. India’s first ODI after suffering a knee injury during the practice session.

Due to his absence, Yashvi Jaiswal made a ODI debu along with bowling all -rounder Harshat Rana.

During the toss, Indian captain Rohit Sharma confirmed that Kohli injured his right knee during training on Wednesday evening.

As a result, Jeswal will open with Rohit, while Shubman Gul has been pushed to number 4. After losing the toss, India was sent first to bowl in Nagpur’s ODI.

The three -match India versus the England One Day Series works as the last preparations for the Champions Trophy 2025, starting February 19.

India has not played ODIs since August last year, when they lost a 2-0 bilateral series against Sri Lanka, in which a game ended in a tie.

After a disappointing tour of Australia, the shape of Kohli is being checked, where he was repeatedly dismissed behind the stump.

To improve his game, he was trained with former India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar before offering a rare Ranji trophy for Delhi, where he scored only six runs against the railway.

Despite the recent struggle, ODI cricket is the strongest format of Kohli, and is just 94 runs away from reaching 14,000 ODI runs.

If he gets this milestone, he will only become the third batsman in history – then Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara and to reach this historic sign and reach the fastest to do so.
