Islamabad: Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday condemned the failure to prepare PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, despite a production order on Saturday and sent the matter to the House’s privileges committee.

However, PTI Senator Aun Abbas Bapi was also subjected to a production order in the Senate.

Yesterday, Chairman Gilani issued a production order for PTI Senators – Aun Abbas Bapi and Ejaz CH, in which officials were instructed to ensure their presence in the Senate meeting on Saturday.

In his remarks during the session, Gilani said: “Such neglect for the parliamentary authority cannot be allowed to be unbeaten, as it threatens the Senate’s integrity and a wider democratic framework.

He added, “I send the issue of the implementation of production orders related to Senator Edge Chaudhry to the committee for consideration and report.”

Saying that Senator Abbas was presented, Gilani ruled: “However, yet, the directive of Senator Ejaz Chaudhry has not been fulfilled, which is equivalent to non -compliance with the lawful orders of the chair.”

The decision added that disobedience to the Senate chairman’s orders in the Senate 2012 has “violated privilege” in accordance with the Rule 71 of the procedure and business rules.

Gilani said, “This is not an unprecedented situation,” remembering that he was forced to send the matter to the privileged committee, when a similar situation arose from October 1993 to February 1997 as the National Assembly Speaker.

“As the Chairman of the Senate, my only attempt is to maintain the supremacy of the parliamentarians, the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitutional order,” he said.

Yesterday’s production order was issued for Chaudhry, who is imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, the third. None of the last two orders could be implemented.

In January, Gilani issued a production order for the PTI Senator, which has been imprisoned for about 20 months, so he can attend the Senate meeting on January 14. However, Chaudhry failed to appear in the Senate meeting, where opposition lawmakers had play cards with photographs of the missing senator.

Chaudhry was first arrested on May 11, 2023. He was taken into custody under Section 3 of Public Order Rehabilitation in connection with the May 9 violence. The Islamabad High Court announced its detention under the MPO, after which it was re -arrested on May 25 and taken to Lahore.

Senator Bapi gives details of his arrest at Multan residence

Speaking on the floor of the House on Saturday, Senator Bapi presented his version of his arrest in Multan on Saturday after Gilani was presented there.

During Thursday’s Senate meeting, PTI lawmakers filed a strong protest as opposition leader Syed Shobi Faraz raised the issue of arresting the Bapi and allegedly killing.

Subsequently, the Law Minister informed the Parliament’s upper house that PTI Senator was arrested by Bahawalpur police in a case registered by the Punjab Wildlife Department on charges of illegally hunting deer in Kolistan.

At the beginning of his speech today, Bapi thanked Gilani for his “principle stance”, he noted that the chairman of the Senate had said that if both PTI senators were not born in front of the House today, they should not preside over proceedings.

The PTI legislature also praised the Minister of Law Minister Nazir Tarar for his “position”, and said that after that “some difficulties and repression” made it easy.

He reminded that a Senate meeting was convened for Thursday, but earlier his other engagements were planned. Therefore, he requested the agenda number 14 that he would be postponed the next day.

“Maybe if I attended the session, this event [arrest] Wouldn’t have been and I would sit here […] But it happened that I was at home that day, “the PTI senator reminded.

About 20 people came to his house on March 6 at 8:30 pm, Bapi said. “They first broke the door in front of me, then they tied all my domestic workers in one place,” they alleged.

Without the name of any law enforcement agency, the PTI Senator claimed that a “joint operation” was carried out after the factory was also raided. He added that he was sleeping with his wife in his room when “he hit the door so loud that the lock broke out and he just entered.”

Bapi said his mobile phones were summoned but since he did not remember where he had kept them, the men threatened that if the devices were not handed over, they would also send their 16 -year -old son to jail. He added that once a housekeeper gave his son to his son after giving his mobile phone.

Giving details of the subsequent hearing in the court, BP said that he was then sent on a one -day remand. Comparing the case against the old people filed against Fawad Chaudhry and Shehr Afridi, he termed the victim’s allegations a “respectable FIR”.

The PTI senator added that his “mistake” was campaigning against inflation in southern Punjab, “be loyal to him. [PTI Founder] Imran Khan “, and raising his voice for imprisoned PTI leaders.

“These are my mistakes for which I have been punished for two days and may face it in the future.”

In his decision issued today, Gilani noted that the case against the BAPI, provided under the Rules of the Procedure and Business Rules in the Senate 2012, has not received any reports of the case, which reflected “a clear violation of the parliamentary procedure and the neglect of the institutional protocol”.
