Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Nawaz Sharif has directed the concerned authorities to amend the labor laws across the province.

Presiding over a special meeting on Labor Rights here on Sunday, he said: “The hard working people are friends of Allah. We cannot ignore them. We are determined to make Punjab an ideal province for workers.

The Chief Minister confirmed the government’s responsibility to provide fair wages, medical treatment, better jobs and housing for the workers. Approving several key welfare schemes, he directed the provincial minister for labor, Faisal Ayub Khohar to present a comprehensive project for labor reforms.

Maryam Nawaz stressed that no worker should go to a hungry bed or face difficulties. He announced better opportunities for higher education for the children of the laborers and directed the implementation of the minimum wage at the minimum wage every month in Punjab.

To further support the workers, the Chief Minister demanded the construction of Labor Colonies and ordered to improve social security hospitals across the province. He also announced the establishment of Maryam Nawaz Welfare Centers in Lahore and Rawalpindi/Islamabad, where workers will receive screening health checkups before being sent to major hospitals for further treatment.

The Chief Minister also approved two major health care projects, including a 200 -bed Rehamatol Alamin Cardiology Center for workers on Lahore Defense Road and a 50 -bed Social Security Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.

Punjab Labor and Human Resources Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Senator Pervez Rashid, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhter Zaman attended the meeting.

A survey report yesterday revealed that 62 % of the people of Punjab have termed the one -year performance of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as extraordinary in providing governance and service.

According to a survey of 36 districts of Punjab conducted by the Institute for Public Opinion (IPOR), “60 percent of people believe that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s performance is highest compared to the other 3 prime ministers. “The Chief Minister’s Chief Minister’s education sector has 15 % improvement, 14 % of the health sector, 11 % in road infrastructure and 11 % in governance.”
