Bail applications of Imran Khan rejected in 8 cases
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail pleas were rejected on Wednesday in eight cases related to the May 9 vandalism.
According to the details, the court pronounced a reserved verdict regarding the May 9 vandalism. Judge Manzar Ali Gul of Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) pronounced the verdict.
In 8 cases including attacks on Jinnah House, Askari Tower, Shadman police station, the deposed prime minister’s bail application was rejected.
During the hearing, PTI founder’s lawyer Salman Safdar said that ‘PTI founder has named him in the cases on political grounds. The PTI founder was arrested during the May 9 violence.
Safdar said: “The PTI founder has condemned the May 9 riots. 30 cases have been decided against the government. I am presenting about 25 cases before you.
Police officers are plaintiffs in all cases. He further said that various allegations of conspiracy have been made.
Safdar said that the founder of PTI has been behind the bars for one and a half years.
On the other hand, the petitioner’s lawyer said that PTI founder’s bail should be granted.
The prosecution had opposed the PTI founder’s bail.
The special prosecutor said that the judgments presented had nothing to do with these cases.
The prosecutor said that more than 200 buildings have been attacked on the instructions of the accused.
The prosecutor said, “Statements about carrying out real jihad have appeared on social media.”
