Lahore: According to party sources, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz approved the extension of the provincial cabinet on Tuesday, which is ready to join 12 new ministers.
The current provincial cabinet includes 16 members, including five assistants. The decision to include new ministers was made after the approval of the PML -N (PML -N) leader Nawaz Sharif, who gave him the authority to join the government.
Sources show that the new appointments will include both senior and junior members of the Punjab Assembly. They include a shortlist for cabinet positions, such as experienced politicians like Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Rana Mohammad Iqbal, and Manshaullah Butt.
In addition, former military personnel Colonel (Retd) Ayub Gadhi, Salman Naeem, Rana Tahir Iqbal, Eftel Hussain Chachar, Rana Mohammad Irshad, Malik Asad Ali Khokhar, Mian Amran Javed, and Usman Khan Laghari have also been nominated.
In particular, Shoaib Siddiqui of the Pakistan Party (IPP) has been elected for a ministerial position, indicating an attempt to increase political representation within the cabinet.
It is expected that the newly appointed ministers will take oath later this week, which will finalize the expected extension of the Punjab cabinet.
