ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned the recent drone strike at Saudi Teaching Mettlement Hospital in Sudan’s city of Al -Fisher on Monday, resulting in a tragic loss of more than 70 lives.
The Foreign Ministry (MOFA) called the incident a clear violation of international law and called for the protection of citizens and health facilities during the dispute.
In a statement issued by MOFA, Pakistan expressed its deep sympathy to the victims and their families, emphasizing the urgent need for maintaining international human principles. “The attack illustrates the importance of maintaining the sanctity of health care facilities and the protection of innocent civilians,” the spokesman said.
The attack was charged with the para -military Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which included a drone strike, which targeted a hospital in Al -Fashar, the North Darfur capital. The strike has been widely condemned by global institutions and governments, including Pakistan, which have reaffirmed its support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Emphasizing the peaceful resolution of the ongoing violence, the statement said, “This dispute can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.”
The conflict in Sudan, which began in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, resulted in devastating results for the population. According to the UN, more than 20,000 people have been killed, and an estimated 14 million have been displaced.
Al -Fasher, a strategic center for humanitarian operations, has witnessed intense clashes despite international warnings against further tensions. Rescue organizations have highlighted the serious conditions, millions of Sudanese are facing severe shortage of famine and essential goods.
The United Nations and the humanitarian agencies continue to appeal global assistance to tackle the worst human destruction, which has spread to 13 of the 18 states in Sudan. A recent study by the United States based in the United States estimates that the number of casualties in the conflict could be up to 130,000, which emphasizes the urgent need for international intervention and peace efforts.
